Building Resilient Ecosystems: Expert Insights on Defense and Dual-Use Investments

On September 4th, 2024, the "Brain Storming for Brain Resilience" event, held as part of the Baltic VCA Summit, brought together defense, diplomacy, and investment experts to tackle the complexities and strategies for resilient investments amid today’s geopolitical challenges.



The event featured an esteemed group of speakers: Viktorija Trimbel, Managing Director at Coinvest Capital, opened the event with welcoming remarks, followed by a powerful address from Erika Kuročkina, Vice-Minister at the Ministry of Economy and Innovation of Lithuania.


Anton Verkhovodov, Partner at D3.vc, led a compelling fireside chat on "Investing in Defense During the War," sharing his experience in navigating investments in Ukraine amid conflict. Mindaugas Petrauskas, Head of Financial Crime Prevention at Amlyze, in his keynote "Clean Hands for Innovations,"discussed the need for robust due diligence.


The panel discussion, "Brain Resilience from Communications, Diplomacy & Military Perspectives," featured Mykolas Katkus, Co-founder and CEO of Repsense; Ambassador Eitvydas Bajarūnas, former ambassador to Sweden, Russia, and the UK; and COL (ret.) Saulius Guzevičius, former Chief Commander of Lithuanian Special Operation Forces. They offered diverse perspectives on building resilience, drawing from their expertise in military, diplomacy, and strategic communications.


The event concluded with a networking session, giving participants an opportunity to exchange ideas and explore potential collaborations to drive innovation in the defense and dual-use sectors. This gathering of experts provided insights into how investments can be strategically managed in challenging geopolitical contexts.
